antenora architects llp
about:
antenoraarchitects llp was founded on the belief that architecture should be responsive rather than dogmatic.
We believe that a well conceived building is one that is responsive to the needs of the end users, is mindful of the forces of nature, environment and site; it is architecturally respectful to its community and context, and can be built within reasonable and predictable budget and schedule expectations.
Our designs evolve from an appreciation of history, an understanding of many architectural styles, an incorporation of new technologies and best practices, yet, with an eclectic sense of timelessness in design.
Since its start in 1997, Antenora Architects has been consistently recognized by the regional architectural, construction and real estate professions for excellence in design, construction and business integrity; and for their contributions to the community.

Michael Steven Antenora
Michael Steven Antenora is the Principal and founder of antenoraarchitects llp. From a very early age, Michael exhibited talents for drawing and building. Through the influence of his late Grandfather, Charles Yakubik, a self-taught engineer and tinker; Michael was exposed to construction, engineering, cabinetmaking and design. Whether helping to build a boat, summer cottage or piece of furniture, there were always lessons to be learned and projects to be completed. In the atmosphere surrounding these projects was an ever present respect for craftsmanship, attention to detail and general love of the process of learning and making.
Michael attended Kent State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science, and a Bachelor of Architecture. After several years working as an architectural intern, Michael pursued and received a Masters of Architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin where he studied with the twentieth century master, the late Charles W. Moore FAIA. Mr. Moore joined Lawrence W. Speck, FAIA as co-advisor on Michael's Masters Thesis "Continuity Between the Concept and Construction of Architecture."
Over the course of twenty years in the field of architecture, the breadth of Michael's experience range in size and character from projects as small as custom homes up to municipal convention centers. From this work, Michael has gained a reputation for his imaginative design work, his professionalism, as well as, his extensive knowledge and hands-on experience of construction practices. He brings this knowledge and skill to bear on each and every project, regardless of size or type. All projects are approached, organized and resolved with the same attention and concerns for architectural detail, programmatic functionality, sustainability and economic value.
Recently Antenora Architects has been recognized for their work on large mixed-use and adaptive re-use projects. Most notably is Penn Field, a former WWI era Army airbase converted into a 16 acre, 300,00sf mixed use campus. The project has quickly become one of Austin's most popular and successful commercial developments.
Antenora's residential work has also received recent attention. The Courtyard House in Austin, Texas was widely published and was also included in the 2004 AIA Austin Annual Homes Tour.
Michael resides in Austin, Texas with his wife Sarah and their three daughters Sophia, Olivia, and Elena.
