Courtyard House

Austin, TX

The Courtyard House is the result of a major remodel and 1,600 sf addition to a single-story house originally built in 1952. The site is a corner lot, so the design team oriented the house toward a quiet residential street and created buffers to minimize the noise from the more heavily traveled corridor.

Among its distinguishing features are three exterior courtyards that Antenora Architects nestled within the Z-shape floor plan. Due to the home's proximity to the busy street, the courtyards create much-needed realms of privacy and serenity.
