Antenora Architects' renovation of Building C within the highly successful Penn Field adaptive re-use development created 35,000 sf for a mix of talented tenants. Among its first occupants was the Design Center of Austin, which served as a catalyst for modern design across Central Texas. The design team also designed separate space in Building C for Austin Playhouse, a local theatrical company.

At the heart of Building C, a double-height wall of glass opens to a atrium space designed for large gatherings, presentations, and events. This dramatic space, like others within the Penn Field complex, exhibits the design team's thoughtful integration of new construction with vintage elements of the original building fabric. 

Initially conceived for the Design Center of Austin, the large central space provided maximum flexibility for DCA's display of products from local artisans and manufacturers for the design trade. Until the DCA's creation, Central Texas lacked a one-stop resource for high-end design goods for the architectural and interior design community.
