The design concept ties Half Step to the architectural aesthetic of the Rainey Street National Historic District near downtown Austin. Antenora Architects adapted an existing single-story house for re-use as a cocktail bar within this former residential neighborhood that has become one of the city's most popular entertainment districts. The design team, a colloboration between Antenora Architects and the Owner,  created bar service areas both inside and along the front porch, as well a private room for exclusive gatherings. In addition, a separate service structure on the grounds provides space for on-site manufacturing of ice. Re-use of vintage elements emphasizes the architectural legacy of the original dwelling.
